We built an Outdoor Learning Center. Our students, LeeRoy Agundiz, Alex Fragoza, Edgar Hernandez and Juan Rodgriquez designed it, we got grants to pay for it and the community came together to build it.
There is a 200 foot solar powered river, that houses, plant life, crawdads, fish, and soon to be turtles. We have a beautiful green house that classes are already using to grow spring flowers. We will sooin have a vegetable garden and we are composting cafeteria waste in our worm beds. We have butterfly gardens and a small weather station and we can read the temperature in the greenhouse on an oversized thermometer.
Next year we will have 13 different stations up and running and it will be open to other schools to use when they want to learn about conservation, and plant life, and river and pond life.
Stop by and see what we are doing in Burrel, you will be amazed. |
